Koh Samui is an island off Thailand and a popular tourist destination. The island is fairly big. The Chaweng and Lamai beaches are very popular and commercialized while the northern beaches are much quieter and peaceful to visit. Tourism in Koh Samui has boomed in the past few years and the result was the numerous resorts, bungalows and luxury private villas that were built to accommodate the increasing tourist.
